Once a month every orphanage has a birthday party to honor all the kids who have birthdays that month. Everybody loves to eat cake. The children receive birthday gifts that they can all share like sports equipment and board games. These boys are ready to play ball.

During Christmas, each home enjoys a delicious meal and every child receives a gift, usually a new outfit or warm jacket. All the children are treated equally and get to feel special. During celebrations, the children put on plays and they dance and sing. They get to be kids and have a childhood, no matter what their beginnings.

 

Every year, the children in India look forward to celebrating Diwali, the Festival of Lights. There are firecrackers, sparklers, gifts and a special holiday meal.

Winter Celebration

The girls love to display their classical Indian dancing during holidays.

Sankranti celebration

Sankranti (also known as Pongal) is the celebration of the harvest coming to an end. The festival is celebrated by creating Rangoli, eating sweets and spending time with friends and family.
