World’s Children supports the most vulnerable children in the world— orphans, homeless, abandoned or abused children, and children affected by HIV/AIDS. Many are girls from poor families where they are not loved or wanted simply because they are girls.

The children in the orphanages and children’s homes that we support come from difficult backgrounds and they benefit from your encouragement as well as your financial support.
We put a strong emphasis on education and successful outcomes because this will uplift not only the child you will come to know and love, but society as a whole.
We award college and vocational scholarships to promising students who cannot afford higher education. With your help, a student can earn a degree and break the cycle of poverty.
You can sponsor an individual college student or you can give to the World’s Children Scholarship Fund.
With a college or vocational degree, our students enter adulthood with the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to support themselves and their families.

In addition to sponsorship and scholarships, one of our highest priorities is to improve and maintain a nurturing environment at the children’s homes we support.

We fund projects large and small—like toilets, water projects, buildings and remodels, generators, beds with mosquito nets, dining tables, libraries, playground equipment, security fences, solar water and lighting systems, computers, and sewing machines.
When you give for one of our projects, you will know exactly where your money went. You will receive photos and a thank you letter from the administrator of the home.

Support for children affected by trafficking and early marriage
Some of the children we support have been rescued from trafficking and exploitation. Others have narrowly escaped an illegal child marriage.
Several of the homes we work with provide sanctuary for children in need of a safe and loving home.
We also support a trafficking prevention program that focuses on education and empowerment in rural villages.

Disruption in weather patterns is leaving many children without parents. Severe drought is causing farmers to commit suicide because when their crops fail, their debts become insurmountable.
Unpredictable weather events can cause displacement and even death. Poor families are more likely to lose their homes and they lack access to health care and social safety nets.

The children’s physical, emotional, and social well-being is nurtured throughout childhood and adolescence.
The Healthy Child Initiative is a program that assists with the children’s health needs – both expected and unexpected.
We provide funding for mosquito nets, first aid kits, supplemental nutrition, anti- parasitic medication, medical emergencies, and other health situations as they arise.
We’re committed to sustainable, long-term benefits for the children we support.
32 children’s homes receive regular funding for meals, clothing, medical care, and shelter serving 3,500+ children in desperate need of loving support.
Over 250 projects have been funded to make life better for children since 2012. Projects like libraries, wells and toilets, buildings, mosquito nets, and everything in between.
278 students received college scholarships in 2021 to cover tuition, fees, textbooks, and living expenses. 98 of these students graduated in 2021.

Loretta met David Purviance on a chance trip in 2006, while seeking to be of service to the vulnerable children in India. Since then, Loretta has been a longtime supporter of World’s Children as a donor, sponsor, and previous Board member. She had the wonderful opportunity to return to India twice to visit several World’s Children orphanages, and even identified the Happy Home orphanage and petitioned to bring it into the WC family. Loretta raised funds to build a well at Happy Home, where it now has clean water for all the children and staff.
Loretta currently works with the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services as the Program Manager for the six Medical Hubs – the child abuse evaluation clinics for the County. She also serves as the Program Manager for the County’s Gender Health Program, serving patients seeking gender-affirming care in a safe environment. Before her work with Los Angeles County, Loretta spent many years serving non-profit organizations in CA and in MN, her last as the Executive Director of a statewide non-profit in MN. She has a long history of volunteer work including Board Member and Board Chair service, grant writing and fundraising experience, program development, and creative leadership, all serving our most vulnerable and disenfranchised populations.
Loretta holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Services, a Master’s degree in Spiritual Psychology, and a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership. She lives in Los Angeles County with her partner, Myck, and their rescue kitties, Scooter and Thunder.
